Providing Instructional Leadership

The principal ensures that all students have ongoing access to quality teaching and learning opportunities to meet the provincial goals of education.

In my role of Assistant Principal I have participated in SIT team meetings, Diamond team meetings and SSW meetings.  I have focused on developing my relationships with our support staff.  I want to have an impact on our students that are often most vulnerable.  I feel that the information I received in my LPI has shown that my support staff feel supported.

Looking forward, it is my goal to increase the number of classroom walk throughs and class visits that I am making each week.

Mentor Year One and Year Two Teachers

I have had the pleasure of mentoring two of our bright new teachers at Iron Ridge Junior Campus.  I met with them on a regular basis to guide them though situations with students, parents, curriculum and planning.

Supporting Colleagues

Staff can book myself or my co-coach to help them teach a lesson, provide RTI for struggling student, teach the main group of students while the teachers provides RTI, help them with IXL, and so much more.  I love when staff utilize me to help their students' success.

A few years ago, in an effort to help support colleagues as well as provide additional training for new staff members, Irene Allen and I started a "Report Card Writing Boot Camp".  We would host 2-3 sessions where we would talk about the types of issues to cover in report cards and how to write them in a positive and helpful manner.  These "Boot Camps" have now become a part of our school culture.
